Functional Lead – Engineering |
Purpose of the Job:
- Lead and provide input for Engineering activities in the sales and tendering phase of all proposals –identify technical risks and mitigation measures, interpret customer specifications and vendor proposals, and manage the engineering risk approval process,
- Leadership, co-ordination and facilitation of the Engineering department to ensure maximum resource allocation and planning to ensure deliverables and actions are prioritised throughout the Engineering phase of execution
- Build the team, set up the organization and drive the engineering operations, resources and capabilities to meet the NGSL targets.
- Establish continuous improvement and ensure Engineering adherence to quality and EHS processes.
- Play a key role in further expanding the business beyond its current activities

Mission

Responsibilities
Strategic:
- Structured alignment of NGSL Engineering activities with GE & NTPC group function – initiate technology transfer projects from promoter organisation
- Develop and implement procedures to incorporate quality and EHS policies into the engineered solution provided by NGSL & associated businesses
- Ensure development of relevant engineering tools and processes to NGSL.
- Develop and build organisation in line with NGSL targets
Operational
- Support the Sales & Tendering team with engineering related data to ensure that the winning strategies for the assigned projects are formulated and implemented.
- Lead and determine best possible engineered solution to maximize the outcome for NGSL within budget, schedule and specification
- Provide professional engineering services to external & internal customers
- Interfacing/managing with other groups and within NGSL/GE network
- Coach and provide strong leadership for engineering of projects from screening till execution

- Provide leadership and define clarity of documentation for project hand over meetings – internal and external with customers
- Ensure milestone activities during the entire process of project engineering are adequately prepared and effectively presented and regularly monitored.

- Customer satisfaction
- Schedule, costs, quality
- Risk and chance management
- Performance
- Project culture (teamwork within the project team)
- Maximise the utilization of Engineering resources.
- Ensure the correct tools and processes are introduced in NGSL: Document control, Project log, NCR, CoPQ etc
- Support Conferences and other external NGSL activities.

- On Time Delivery (OTD), Right first time (RFT)
- No. of NCR, Cost of poor Quality (CoPQ)

Job Requirements

Educational Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering degree from Tier 1 institute with 16+ years of Experience.
|
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in Power industry, specially related to Boiler, Turbine & ESP Retrofits, FGD, Waste to energy, BOP, Coal handling, Ash handling
- High degree of skills of problem solving, analysing and decision making.
- Leadership capabilities.
|
Competencies
|
Technical Skills:
- Experience and knowledge of Power plants design, O&M, Maintenance concepts etc.
- Understanding of Processes of Power plants and integration related issues.
- Successful track record of managing multi-skilled teams within large and complex engineered solutions preferably in the power generation market
