Project Brief

R&M: Steam Turbine & Auxiliaries

  • Steam Turbine Renovation & Modernization (R&M) of Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station Units 1–3 (3×210 MW), covering complete life‑extension, performance enhancement, aimed at heat rate (cycle efficiency) improvement and long‑term reliable operation of Units‑1, 2 &3.
  • End‑to‑end execution including design, engineering, manufacture, inspection, testing, supply, erection, supervision, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing of steam turbine‑generator units and auxiliaries.
  • Replacement and upgradation of HP, IP, and LPT modules with advanced designs (retaining LPT outer casing), along with new stop & control valves, turbine governing system, and modern turbine control systems.
  • Comprehensive dismantling and retrofitting of existing equipment, including associated turbine auxiliaries, piping, valves, hangers, supports, and modernization to ensure compatibility with existing plant layout.
  • Implementation of advanced digital control systems, including microprocessor‑based Distributed Digital Control, Monitoring & Information System (DDCMIS), along with electrical, C&I, insulation, and quality assurance works.
  • Renovation & modernization of steam turbine auxiliary systems as part of the 3×210 MW TG R&M program to enhance efficiency, reliability, and operational performance.
  • Upgradation of key turbine auxiliaries including lubrication oil, control fluid, seal oil, and gland steam systems, contributing directly to improved condenser vacuum and TG cycle heat‑rate reduction.
  • Modernization of piping, valves, hangers, supports, and associated systems, ensuring compatibility with existing plant layout while reducing leakage and auxiliary losses.
  • Implementation of advanced digital control, monitoring, and instrumentation systems (DDCMIS) for precise control, improved diagnostics, and seamless integration with turbine control systems.
  • Performance‑focused auxiliary system design aligned with NTPC functional guarantees, supporting life extension and long‑term reliable operation of the turbine‑generator units.
